What is a mfl file?

MFL files support the web-based Enterprise Management (WBEM) initiative developed by the computing industry to help standardize distributed computing environments. MFL files are in managed object format (MOF) language, which supports management functions in Windows XP. MFL files are saved in the Windows XP system directory, System32 folder. The function of WBEM standards is to minimize the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of a personal computer system. Microsoft created a compliant management service called Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), which simplifies the management information in Windows XP. In turn, this provides a more efficient and data-conservative environment for components, operating systems and applications developed by a diverse group of producers.  Examples of other Windows files are CFG, BAT and EML.
