What is a prt file?
PRT files (also known as printer definition or printer output files) can be generated on UNIX systems. On UNIX systems, one should use the FILEUTIL function with a Filename parameter. In FILEUTIL, one can open or print a PRT file with a line printer (LP) parameter. After being exported by printing jobs, PRTs are saved as text files. They are also utilized with IRMA Workstation for Windows printer configuration files, Dr. Halo printer driver files, and Microsoft Schedule+ print files. PRT files include information on line feed codes, control codes for bold or italic, or page break control codes. PRT files are stored in the ASCII format. Examples of other files stored in this format include BAT, CFG and INF.
